The front of my house has a decorative fascia board above the front porch. It’s around 1/2″ thick so many of the light mounting kits don’t work with it. Compounding that is me not wanting to put holes in the board I had a problem: how to mount the string of lights onto it?

Salvation came from Office Max of all places: Binder clips! The BIG binder clips. Of course they generally come in any color you want as long as you want black. It’s nothing that a coat of white spray paint doesn’t solve however.

Mounting the lights up front is now a five minute exercise. Cool!

When I’m done all I need to do is flip the handles up and they mostly disappear into the whiteness.

Admittedly, I guess they’re due for another coat of paint. Eight or nine winters takes its toll after all.
