Power

Having the trainer with a watt meter I'm starting to get a sense for what power feels like. You look at your house and you use perhaps a kilowatt without thinking about it.The most I ever put out -- if only for a moment -- is around 500 W.That got me to thinking about power plants.I'm just imagining the immense forces that are acting upon the generator. Most power generation involves spinning things (except for things like photovoltaics, fuel cells and a few other oddball items).Now I know that I'm putting out .6 HP (ok, for a brief instant), but I'm working really f-ing hard.It puts things in perspective.I looked at my house power meter. It read 1076 W with the fridge compressor running.Crap...
