Sweet Jane

Funny how memories work. One of the best memories I have is walking out of my tent at X-Day 4 or 5 at Brushwood campground. It was either the first or second time we'd gone.[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHRFZFmEq9o]Someone set up a dance party in the field. They rigged up a tent with a big parachute. Lots of driving beats were filling the campground through the night. Then there was something mellow. They played Sweet Jane by the Cowboy Junkies.I don't think I'll ever forget that night, suddenly calm. The dew on the grass getting your toes wet as Ennie and I walked over the ditch in front of our tent to the dome with out white gas lantern spill a pool of light around us. Smelling smoke of the dying campfires mixing with the mist in the night.I don't know why it stuck. But stick it did. Just a point in time. There. Then. When I hear that song I get transported back to 2001 with my wet toes hugging Ennie in the dark. Camping. No worries.I guess this is one of my happy places.
