Scammy

I got an interesting envelope in the mail today:Me "Or Current Resident." Up in the corner: "To be opened only by recipient."I guess, in the strictest sense of the word, anyone who get this is the recipient, no?So, this is pimping Livedeal -- NASDAQ: Live. Here's a random, kinda loser, company that's now trading between 5 and 6. In 2004 they were a ways above 400. They are presently losing money. This letter pimps they have a mobile play that's "about to launch." << shakes head >> Everyone has a mobile play.If you get a letter like this remember this: don't buy it. The sender doesn't have your best interest in mind. So, let's play this out. On average, a bit more that 70K shares change hands so this is a relatively liquid stock... If I were the sender of this letter, let's say I sent out a thousand letters. I'm in the hole around $500 at this point. Let's say I can get the stock to move from 5 to 5 1/2. The gain over a thousand shares will cover my expense.Right now there's a pretty big spread between bid and ask: 4.74 and 5.54 with the last trade at 5.17. (Granted, no live trading on Saturday) There's not a lot of activity, so enough of a purchase will move the stock substantially. It'd be a gamble... but if some sucker bites and buys a few thousand shares you can make some money. I, for one, will not be that sucker. :-P
