On Sunday we went up for a quick flight with a friend of mine. Like I was saying, there was a crash — yes a CRASH into the hanger by someone who lost control of their Piper on landing. We took off late and landed in the dark.
For some reason I thought that the landing seemed easier than on simulators. I don’t really know why. One thing that really struck me (not literally thankfully) was how close the buildings are to the glideslope. I’m sure people that know more than I are sure that everything is completely up to snuff. It still seemed close.
You could tell we were right on the glideslope by looking at the VASI to the left of the runway. Red and white together mean you’re good. Two white is too high. Two red is too low.
