Anachronisms

I'm watching Le Mans this year. I've been watching most of the race this year having paid my €9.99 for the online streaming package. The thing I thought of while watching the is that something like this likely wouldn't be held today if it hasn't been done for the past nearly hundred years. Inventing this format just seems rather unnatural. Once the format exists it'll continue and spread, but it's something that's fundamentally new.Another race, keeping with the theme, is the Monaco F1 race. That's a race that wouldn't be added to the championship now. "Too dangerous" I'm sure would be the refrain. But at this point it's the jewel of the F1 season.Or what of the Tour de France? Or any of a number of divergent sports like that...Just a random observation.
