Plumbing

Unlike most people I'm not freaked out at all my electric things in my house. It's something that I intuitively just understand. I know how it can hurt me and how to avoid those cases.Plumbing, on the other hand, is the opposite. Most people seem to not be phased by plumbing challenges. I, however, am generally fearful of them.Today a new dishwasher arrived. I walked in confident -- I had replaced a couple other dishwashers in the past so this should be a walk in the park, right?Well, up to the point where I realized where the drain of the unit was going to go.Most sane people's dishwashers have a hose that runs from the dishwasher to their garbage disposal. My house, having been built by a home builder, is a bit more "elite." There's a dedicated drain line coming out from behind the wall.Straight out from the wall. Right in the space where the dishwasher wants to occupy as well. (Especially once the drain line is actually attached)Solution: Trim the line and solder on a right-angle piece.Yeah, and try to not burn down the place. My first time attacking soldering pipes and it's in one of the least accessible parts of it.But I got it done. And the house, despite the bit of scorching, is still standing. And not smoking. And I have a new dishwasher!
