Of all the Olympics I’ve been around to see on TV (never did get to see them in person) I don’t recall a time that I’ve been so incredibly disinterested in the entire event.
Even with the last winter games in Russia I was more interested in the events and the outcome. This time around I’m looking at the whole thing as a morass of corruption, doping, violence, and pollution.
I feel bad for the athletes for the most part.
I think that was part of the difference in Russia. While the housing and various things were a bit of a cluster fuck, you could tell the security of the place was there. You had the corruption still, but there wasn’t as much of the gore that you’re getting now.
Go Team USA I guess. Good luck.
