Lighthouse Specs

Something I learned today is that there is an international organization that deals with lighthouses -- they used to be called, rather appropriately, International Association of Lighthouse Authorities. Now they're "International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities" but the abbreviation is still "IALA."It turns out that there are rules about building lighthouses -- among other thing that no two lighthouses can be alike. The theory goes that if you're on a ship and you see a lighthouse you should be able to figure out where on Earth you are. There are no two alike from what I learned today. Some of the things are pretty minor, but between the paint, the house, the railings, and a myriad other things.I'm still trying to find the manual for it... apparently the Coast Guard no longer sells the printed manual and it's somewhere on their site. But I'm not able to find it.
