“Earn Trust” is one of the leadership principles at Amazon.
This is important. When you say or do something you need to make sure that over time people trust you and the decisions that you’re making.
It’s something that is easy to lose though. After too many cock-ups, you wind up in a position where people don’t trust you any more. People that you need to work with on a daily basis ignore you because, well, you’re just not trusted.
This is unfortunate if you get in this position. It’s hard to work back from.
If you mess way up it’s all too easy for people to switch teams away from you.
Leaving you stranded.
