Minolta X-700

I got the Minolta back in 1983 or so. I still remember going to K-Mart to pick it up with my mom and dad. I still have the original receipt in my files somewhere.I shot with the 50mm f/1.7 kit lens for my formative photographic life. I also had a 70-200mm f/4 zoom in my kit as well -- this was before I really discovered my love of the wide angle. I shot with this until the mid 90's when I got my first Canon EOS system (film, of course).Since then I don't recall shooting with it in anger. I had a roll of B&W film in it... but I don't really recall of what.A couple days ago I picked up a 28mm f/2.8 lens for it; my first wide angle.Today I went out and shot with it for real.It takes pictures like the day it was packed up last.I almost forgot how easy to focus it is. Modern autofocus viewfinders aren't designed for manually focusing; they are optimized for high brightness. But the way they achieve the brightness makes the depth of field seem deeper. They also lack the focus aids that come with a good manual focus screen like the split-image and micro-prism ring make for an easy task to nail focus quickly.I souped the Ilford HP5+ and it's hanging to dry right now.
