Guernica

I was watching Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown today. He was in the Basque region of Spain and France. In a passing comment, someone brought up Franco.

That got me thinking.

I didn't really learn about that in school. I didn't learn about a lot of things in school. I learned a lot of dates of battles, but I didn't learn much about world history.

Looking at, and thinking about the Spanish civil war it struck me that most of what I know about the Spanish civil war I learned from fricking art class -- Guernica. That's depressing. En was saying that she learned more in literature than history.

This is history that has happened in the lifetime of people that are still alive today.

That is depressing.
