Vancouver Beauty Shot

Jackie and I were wandering around Stanley Park in Vancouver over the weekend and there was a really dramatic view of the skyline across the inlet. I'm still not 100% thrilled with the overall architecture of Vancouver... and their city-wide choice of seafoam green as the base color for almost all of the buildings, but at least the blue sky offsets the drabness of the cityscape. The other thing to point out is that shooting raw really, really makes a huge difference. As I was experimenting with exposure latitude I found (and this isn't really surprising) that blown highlights are hard to recover, but shadows are easy. (This is the opposite of film, where highlight latitude is seemingly infinite but shadows are quickly lost) Here's the same shot without the corrections from Lightroom:If your camera allows for it, always shoot raw.Leica M10 + Summicron 28mm @ f/8, ISO 100, 1/1500s.
