Mockingbirds!

So this is a nest of northing mockingbirds.

The parents obviously weren't home when I took the shot, they were nearby though. I'm pretty sure I saw mom making sure I wasn't doing anything untoward. (no, don't worry, they came back to the nest at night. It was a warm day and I don't think that incubation was needed)

The coloring of both the birdies and the eggs match up with the descriptions I've seen for these guys. It's just so cool to have this gift to be able to watch a family of critters come into the world.

The more I'm out here, the happier that I am out here.
