Manly

Over the past week or so I got a chainsaw and started to do a big cleanup of my yard. Next to the culvert over my creek (pronounced "crick" for the uninformed) was the remnants of a big tree. Perhaps the bottom 6-7 feet of the tree was just laying there.

I bucked it up into chunks then afterward I started to split the wood with a leftover splitting ax I found in my barn. Presumably, the previous owners forgot about it.

There is something so primal about the act of making firewood.

And the power of using a chain saw.

It really does make you feel something innate to being human. The control over the environment.

And I'm still at home so I don't have to worry about the forking coronavirus.
