Propane and propane accessories

I've had a Weber Performer grill for the longest time. It's an amazing grill. It's a gas starting charcoal grill. It takes away all of the annoyance of lighting the charcoal, but lets you use them with nearly the convenience of a conventional gas grill.

The problem is that it's old.

It came with a 5-pound propane tank that is fitted with a quick-release connector. None of these are strange things, but the problem is that you can't get a 5-pound tank that fits anymore and it's too old to legally fill.

It looks kind of normal...

...until it's next to a 20-pound tank you're likely more familiar with.

At first I was trying to figure out a way of retrofitting that quick-release onto a regular tank... then I realized that I didn't need to.

The male-side of the connector was attached to the regulator. I did some measurements and sure enough it's a normal 1/4" NPT connector.

All I had to do was find a way of connecting the Acme connector on the 20-pound tank to the 1/4" NTP on the regulator.

Enter PropaneProducts.com. They let me order up such a beast. A custom-built 4-foot hose!

And it works! :-D
