Music and math

I've been watching a lot of videos about music of late. And that's when I got to the realization (again) that the thing that so fascinates me about music is literally the structure of the music itself.

As I'm learning guitar, one of the things that's making things stick is not the rote learning, but rather thinking about the math involved with what makes up a chord. Somehow my mind is just wired in a way that makes this retain a lot easier than other ways.

And it's making me want to get a keyboard on top of the guitars (not literally on top of the guitars -- I don't want to damage them) to get to a better understanding of some of the underlying fundamentals of all this.

But I'm still learning all this on guitar.

And it really is rather exciting.
