The Tide Is High (and low...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppYgrdJ0pWkSeattle is on the ocean. Well, the Sound anyway, but that is connected to the ocean. With that you get tides.Tides are something that I didn't really grow up with. Lake Erie isn't really something that gets affected by the cycles of the sun and moon. I'm sure you could measure it, but you don't really experience it.We took the picture above at just about minimum low tide in a little beach next to the apartment. Here's the same beach the next day:About 16 feet of water added.Another comparison:I knew the tides and how they work for the most part. I knew it from an intellectual standpoint, but not intuitively.I'm getting there.I'll just end with a shot from the low-tide beach just for the pretty-factor![smugmug url="http://photos.vec.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=23673147_4TvKmF&format=rss200" imagecount="100" start="1" num="100" thumbsize="Th" link="smugmug-lightbox" captions="false" sort="false" window="true" smugmug="true" size="L"]
