MySpace?

Web

Earlier this week I got an email that I wasn't really expecting. It was inviting me to use the new MySpace. It has been a long while since I've even thought about that site. Honestly, most of my experience with it was a jumble of flashing backgrounds with more flashing text and marquees on top of that. It looked like a hyper 12-year-old was in charge of the design department -- a 12-year-old with a coke habit. (Either one, you pick)It was a quick way to get an instant headache. My first impression as I was going to log into my old, long neglected, account was the "Connect with Facebook" login button. That's either a win or a fail, I'm really not quite sure.Logging in was like going to a slightly slower Facebook. And I don't have nearly as many friends on there either. It is also a time machine. Most of the updates I've seen on there were from three years ago... around the time that Facebook won.

What's the angle on MySpace? I know a bunch of bands still use it. A cursory look around leads me to believe that there is a definite music tilt to the whole site. The design seems a bit cleaner than Facebook now. Not as app-focused either.Honestly, I'm curious what everyone else thinks about it. Thoughts?
