Discovery Park Walk

Last weekend we went off to a new-to-us park: Discovery Park.It started off life as Fort Lawton in 1896 with the first building built in 1902, just slightly before our house here in Seattle. It continued as DOD property in active use up until just about a year ago.Discovery Park started off in 1972 with the Army giving 534 acres of land to Seattle. This was the beginning.I'm sure I'll amass more as we go back. I won't bore you with a simple regurgitation of Wikipedia here...The lighthouse and quarters, now vacant, for the staff.[smugmug url="http://photos.vec.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=27957742_gSkW6C&format=rss200" imagecount="100" start="1" num="100" thumbsize="Th" link="smugmug-lightbox" captions="false" sort="false" window="true" smugmug="true" size="L"]
