Frustration
Of course everyone knows that the US government has mostly shut itself down due to idiots down in DC.This, for the most part, doesn't really affect me or Ennie since both of us are privately employed. This does, however, affect my friend Holly since she's working in a government hospital. It won't affect her immediately, but the next crisis with the debt ceiling will.I'm just frustrated at the lot of them.The Republicans are doing a couple stupid things. First off they are mindlessly opposing President Obama at every turn. I have to emphasize mindless since this congress has gotten less done than any since the civil war. Even the Affordable Care Act was built on many Republican ideas, except it was proposed by Obama. Then, even though they lost the last election they insist on holding the country hostage to keep refighting the same fucking battle over and over again. On top of that they seem to consciously ignore science and the rights of women, LGBT, blacks, or anyone that isn't a white male. Gaahhh!!Then the Democrats are all about turning the government into a surveillance state with totalitarian-like ideas of what the masses should and shouldn't do. Not the least of which is the idiotic appeals to "common sense" in terms of gun laws. The presence of the NSA has increased under the current administration as has a number of other war-like behaviors against other nations.I just want a government that:
- Takes care of its bills
- Has a good (though not stupidly porky) military
- Proper utilities (roads, etc.)
- Education
- A base-level of health-care
- Proper law/legal enforcement
- Funding for basic research (to keep us in line with other nations)
- Good foreign/trade relations.
Then get the fuck out of my business.Don't tell me what religion to believe in (yes, I count denigrating of LGBT as forcing whatever religion you adhere to down my throat). Don't say "science is bad." (yes, I know, religion again) Don't tell me I can't defend myself. Don't spy on me.Sheesh... who the hell can I vote for next cycle? This is just plain frustrating and pissing the hell out of me.
