Blog Experiments

One thing I noticed in with the blog is that while I get a lot of traffic, I tend to get a high bounce rate. People come to the site from a search, find one thing, then just leave.I think the problem is that a lot of different things on here. It's a mashup of all sorts things. A lot of other blogs are focused and have a lot higher stickiness. There are blogs about photography, relationships, motorcycling, and all matter of other things. The difference is that these other sites are devoted to one subject and readers can feel free to browse about. This blog, on the other hand, is random.Sure, I have a tendency to write about certain broad topics, but it varies a lot from day-to-day.Today I'm trying something. Related posts. If you look down there (motioning downward) on a post page you'll see an auto-generated list of related posts. The experiment is to see a before-and-after. I have Google Analytics running so I have some good historic data for what things look like. Since I made this change today I can look to see how the metrics change over the next couple of days.I'll certainly report back to see how things shake out. Good or bad this is an interesting experiment.
