Off my game

I had an interesting comment today that really threw me off my game. I'm not going to go into the specifics of exactly who or what was said...But... it went something like... "Why did you ever do [x]?" where [x] is something annoying and rude.I never recalled doing [x].I thought I mis-heard and did the "eh?" type look and sound and they repeated it again the same.Like I said, [x] wasn't done. [x] isn't even in my character for the most part.I have a tendency to not apologize for things I didn't do. It just rubs me the wrong way.But it does throw me off my game.<sigh/>
