Route - Part 2
So this time we’re going to be leaving the rally in Gillette on Sunday and heading out towards Yellowstone. We’ll very likely stay in Yellowstone (or someplace around it) that night. The point of this trip is that we’re playing it by ear for the most part; if we can’t find someplace to stay on one spot, there’s other places out there. I’ve read somewhere that adventure is what happens when things don’t go as planned. In a way that might be what I’m aiming for.
That’ll give us the morning to explore the park and head over to Glacier national park. If there’s too much traffic or other folks getting in the way, there’s always next time. You can’t force fun.
We’ll hopefully get there on Monday night, and we’ll set up a tent somewhere around there. We plan on getting up Going-to-the-Sun road, so if we camp up top, wouldn’t that be cool? As I write this, there’s over a foot of snow on many places on the road. It’s interesting the contrasts that exist. Yesterday, we had weather over 90 degrees (F) here in Solon, and out there it’s snowing heavily.
From there we’ll continue our trek north heading into Alberta aiming for Banff national park. Ever since I’ve seen a picture of Lake Louise, I’ve always wanted to make it up there. In many ways, this trip started with that thought. Other things got added in from various sources. More about why later. Back to the trip. I need to check off this from my life’s to-do list.
Continuing on, we’ll be heading up the Icefields Parkway towards Jasper, though Jasper national park. Somewhere in Banff and Jasper we’ll settle into camp somewhere and grab some Z’s.
Next, go west a bit and then follow the Fraser river until we get to Prince George. We’ll see where we go from here next time!
