Discovery Park - May 2013

Simple photo post today from a walk En and I took today.  :-)One really cool thing we saw is the result of co-evolution: We saw a field of these flowers with bees busy feeding on the nectar. The cool bit is how the bees get to the nectar which is in to top white bit of the flower. They need to push their way in levering off the bottom blue part of the flower. As they push, the blue part pivots down exposing the pistol and stamens of the flower -- which gets all over the bees knees (the orange pit attached to the bee) and they go about pollinating as well as feeding. Really cool!Oh, and one last one for a friend in Cleveland... reflection. Complete with a drip! :-)[smugmug url="http://photos.vec.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=29641110_bxGwdZ&format=rss200" imagecount="100" start="1" num="100" thumbsize="Th" link="smugmug-lightbox" captions="false" sort="false" window="true" smugmug="true" size="L"]
