Change is a skill
Everyone says that people fear change. And that’s likely a true statement.
What I’ve found though is that being able to deal with change can be a learned skill.
I remember back in the days of Insurance.com (actually, Comparison Market back that far) when I freaked out about walking to the printer taking longer. It’s embarassing. Why would someone do that? Because change can be hard.
The cube wall was built and the world didn’t end.
At Amazon, just after I joined, we were moving from Perforce to Git. Again… fear. Perforce was similar to more traditional version control systems like Subversion or even CVS and RCS.
We moved to git and the world didn’t end.
Change happens.
And we need to be able to learn to deal with it. There is no time past or present that deserves to be cast in amber never to change.
